My '68 ES335
(SN 953914)
The the guitar I have always wanted.
I first found this '68 ES335 in a music store in 1977. My wife didn't like it as it was (cherry) red.
So I was content to keep playing my 1963 modified Firebird-I. In 1989 I ask my brother in law if he knew of anyone who had a ES335 for sale. He said he had two in his attic; a '65 with a Bixby tail piece and a '68 without one. I immediately went to his house looked at the two, and re-fell in love with the wine red '68. He was working at the music store where I had originally saw the '68. He bought it, so it is the actual one that I had wanted 12 years before.
To make the purchase, I sold my '63 Firebird-I and my '58 Dan Electro

My 335.....

The ledgend of my ES335.
When Chuck Berry performs concerts he sometimes hires local musicians. My brother-in-law who is a blues man was hired  to play bass. A friend of his was also hired to play rythem guitar. His friend burrowed the ES335 as a back-up guitar.
During the concert Church Berry broke a string and used the guitar for a song or two.
I "believe" he played Johnny Be Good on this ES-335.

The 335 has that great full Gibson sound, with the rich sound of a Les Paul but with a whole lot lighter body. and  even greater sustain.
