Timberlane's Field Hawk

Timberlane's Field Hawk, a.k.a. Newt, was our first Brittany. Bob had investigated all the field breeds and concluded that Brittanys were the best companions in the home as well as wonderful field dogs. Newt became part of our family when he was 9 weeks old...and his first adventure with us was the following two weeks spent in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northeast Minnesota. We remember him stopping to point a mother grouse and her flock of chicks on a portage on Boot Lake.

Newt's education began with basic obedience and field work with Bob. He was our constant companion, traveling with us as we have camped, canoed, and fished. He is also the father of Bill and Lark.

We lost our beloved Newt on November 27, 2005 as he neared his 16th year. We still remember how he loved to indulge in long naps by the woodstove, often sleeping with his legs in the air, dreaming of romps thru the woods and fields. Because of Newt we have grown to love the Brittany breed. Newt was laid to rest in our back pasture on a gentle knoll near other beloved companions who have romped over the Rainbow Bridge. Newt will be there waiting for his earthly companions....Bill, Lark, Breeze, Win, Anne, Bam.....and, of course, his best human friends, Bob and Marcia.
